Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to be professional dancer. However, after spending time with her sister Katie at her role on the Ladies Room movie set, Emily became fascinated by acting. She began to take acting classes and simultaneously landed appearances on television shows from her home country of Canada. VanCamp made a breakthrough in his career when he was cast as the main character Sam Dolan on the WB horror-themed mystery series Glory Days. The show was canceled after 9 episodes despite the positive reviews and poor ratings. The 12th of May, 1986 actress quickly secured another part in Everwood. The character she plays Amy Abbott is one of the principal characters. She was nominated for the award for four Teen Choice Awards and a Young Artist Award.
